Which settings to use
- Websites and blogs: Max size 1920 (or 1280 for in-article images) as WebP at about 80% quality usually cuts photos from several megabytes to a few hundred kilobytes.
- Email and forms with upload limits: use Target size to get each image under a limit such as 500 KB or 1 MB.
- Logos, screenshots and graphics: PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency. Resizing is what makes PNGs smaller.
Photos from phones are rotated the right way up automatically, and the saved copies leave out EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location.
