How this board works

Click a piece of the side to move, then click an empty square or an opposite-color piece. Same-color destinations are blocked and reselect that piece instead. There is no drag-and-drop.

The log uses simplified notation with standard full-move numbering: White and Black share a move number, and the number advances after Black. This is not SAN, not validated PGN, and not a legal-move chess engine—no check, castling, en passant, or promotion rules.

  1. Select a piece belonging to the side to move
  2. Choose an empty square or capture an opponent piece
  3. Read the move log as numbered White / Black pairs
  4. Use Reset board to restore the starting position and clear history
